Looking after your mental health & wellbeing

Talk to a trusted adult, teacher or Student Support team member

If things are becoming too much, or you're becoming increasingly worried or nervous, talk to a trusted adult or a school staff member.

It's also good to check in with your friends, to see how they are feeling. If you're concerned about another student's wellbeing or safety, it is important that you let an adult know. This isn't betraying or breaking their trust - it's one of the best ways you can look after a friend.

Art Department

Sirius College Eastmeadows Campus (EMC) Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts students have produced some terrific work in 2020. Sirius College (EMC) has a variety of Visual Arts resources that students can trial and experiment with as they develop their skills in Visual Arts theory and practical course work.

With the introduction to online learning at the end of Term 1, Visual Arts students no longer had access to the school art room, space and resources such as art supplies, paint, canvas, and various other mediums and equipment.

There was a need to adjust the Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts curriculum to cater to home learning and the potential obstacles that students may not have ready access to the space and resources as they would normally on campus.

Visual Arts classes when on campus have a communal and supportive atmosphere in the classroom whereby students exchange ideas and share their progress, techniques and work with one another. The human interaction is somewhat missing with the online model.

Nonetheless, we are able to share our work through the computer screen, either via live chat/video or by sending images and messages through SEQTA and e-mail. While working from home, students have been given the flexibility to work with both digital art and traditional mediums.

The Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts students at Eastmeadows have responded well to the challenges of working online and have produced exceptionally high-quality work.

Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts are working towards creating a year book that showcases the work of each student and documents some big events of 2020. It has been a pleasure to be working with the Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts students.
